The Office of Civil Defense CALABARZON, in partnership with the Diocese of San Pablo's Social Action Center - Disaster Preparedness and Resiliency Ministry (DPRM), organized the CALABARZON Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Summit for Volunteers in observance of the 36th National Disaster Resilience Month last July 13, 2024, at Liceo de San Pablo, San Pablo City, Laguna.

Experts from the DOST-PHIVOLCS, PAGASA, and OCD CALABARZON discussed the Philippine DRRM System, different hazards affecting the region, and the OCD's Accreditation of Community Disaster Volunteers (ACDV) to establish capacity building and provide avenues on the role of the volunteer groups in the whole spectrum of DRRM.

“We recognize the importance of volunteers on implementing various DRRM activities as you are always ready to serve the community wholeheartedly, notwithstanding challenges and struggles, be it personal or organizational.”, said OCD Regional Director Carlos Eduardo E. Alvarez III.

The afternoon session featured more static displays, a live K9 demonstration, and a forum for volunteer group leaders.

Generally, this activity provided a platform for the volunteers in the area to expand their networks.

Ugnayang Makakalikasan ng Banahaw and St. Martin de Porres Kids’ Home also supported and co-organized the summit.
